IT’S PERSONAL: LIDDELL PLANS THIRD KO OF ORTIZ
Tuesday, March 30th, 2010
The relationship between Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz could be described as volatile to even the most casual viewer that's ever heard the two former champions talk about each other. When things get personal though, that's when Liddell's anger rockets to a new level.
The former light heavyweight champion says he didn't take the bait when Ortiz's girlfriend, former adult actress Jenna Jameson, took to Twitter recently and bashed Liddell and UFC president Dana White. Liddell says he even told his followers to back off of Jameson when things got a little too heated.
"I just take the high road with that," Liddell said on Monday. "I even asked my people on Twitter to back off ...
Something is Definitely Going on with Tito Ortiz / Tito Ortiz quickly denies claims
Thursday, March 18th, 2010
The old saying of 'where there's smoke, there's fire' doesn't seem to do the Tito Ortiz rumor mill justice. How about 'where there's hot ash reigning from the sky, a volcano has erupted'? That seems to fit nicely.
The latest report regarding Tito Ortiz's health, or lack there of, states that Ortiz has "multiple herniations in the neck" forcing the light heavyweight fighter to withdraw from his fight with Chuck Liddell at UFC 115 in addition to causing an early TUF 11 exit.
This latest account from Five Ounces of Pain is consistent with certain elements of previous reports surround Ortiz's health such as leaving the reality show early. Last weekend the MMA-verse was inundated with reports that Liddell would fight Rich ...
Tito out, Franklin in for fight with Chuck Liddell on April 17th
Saturday, March 13th, 2010
Chuck Liddell will be fighting Rich Franklin in his next bout and not rival TUF 11 coach Tito Ortiz, Fighters Only has heard from a reliable source. The switch was initially reported to us just under two weeks ago but was only a rumour at that time.
However, the rumour hit message boards late last night and an industry source confirmed that Liddell will indeed be facing former middleweight champion Rich Franklin. The fight is to headline an April 17th Fight Night event which will counter Strikeforce’s show on the same date.
Rumour has it that the event will be staged in Nashville and be broadcast for free on the Spike TV network. That would present ...
Frank Mir Not the Only One to Talk Death in UFC
Thursday, February 25th, 2010
Frank Mir may have crossed the line when he said he'd like Brock Lesnar "to be the first person that dies due to Octagon-related injuries." But in fairness to Mir, it should be pointed out that he's far from the only person associated with the UFC who has talked about fighting to the death. In fact, before they fought at UFC 100, Lesnar said of Mir, "I'm gonna murder him. I count the days and nights before I get to do that."
That's far from the only example.
Prior to UFC 94 last year, B.J. Penn addressed Georges St. Pierre in a video shot and distributed by the UFC by saying, "Georges, I'm ...
UFC NEWS (updated daily): Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell named “The Ultimate Fighter 11″ coaches
Sunday, December 6th, 2009
His pleas for the job apparently worked; Tito Ortiz will serve as a coach on the upcoming 11th season of "The Ultimate Fighter."
UFC officials confirmed the assignment during Saturday's The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort.
The other part of the surprise? Ortiz will coach against Chuck Liddell, not Forrest Griffin, on the upcoming season of the reality series, and the coaches will meet in a season-ending fight.
After dropping a close split decision to Griffin last month in the UFC 106 main event, Ortiz campaigned for the two to be coaches on "TUF 11." UFC officials, though, chose Liddell instead.
"TUF 11" begins taping in January and debuts on Spike TV in ...
