Fedor Emelianenko Sits Idle While M-1 Global Fights Strikeforce Deal

Friday, April 23rd, 2010
According to a recent interview by Sherdog.com editor Loretta Hunt, who spoke  with M-1 Global President Vadim Finkelchstein on Tuesday about the stalled contract negotiations between his company and the Strikeforce promotion, the ball is now in Strikeforce's court. Finkelchstein and M-1 Global are seeking a revised co-promotional agreement to hold additional future events in the US, which would then preclude the return of the M-1 "poster boy" Fedor Emelianenko, who is fast becoming a depreciating product. Emelianenko has only fought five times since 2006—and, if I might add, against extremely poor competition. No longer relevant names, such as exiled UFC champions Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski ...

Nick Diaz speaks Out Re: Recent Strikeforce Brawl, wants Georges St. Pierre

Friday, April 23rd, 2010
Strikeforce cagefighting champion Nick Diaz is only 26 years of age, but the young Stockton California native has fought in almost every legit MMA promotion there is, including a three-year, 10-fight stint with the biggest and best one, the UFC. All his matches have been tremendously entertaining, the best one possibly being the "news reel-style" knockout win over a heavily favored Robbie Lawler at UFC 47 in April of '04. Jason “Mayhem” Miller Apologizes for Post-Strikeforce Brawl

Monday, April 19th, 2010
Strikeforce: Nashville had it's share of criticism after the events of Saturday night.  Unfortunately, the fight card was overshadowed by the brawl between Jason "Mayhem" Miller and Jake Shields, Gilbert Melendez and the Diaz brothers. Late Sunday night, Miller posted an apology on his website and addressed the situation. Here is what "Mayhem" had to say:   I would like to formally apologize to CBS, Strikeforce, and all fans of mixed martial arts for my role in the events following the Strikeforce: Nashville event. In retrospect, my timing could not have been worse to ask for my rematch ...

The “F” in UFC Does Stand for Fighting, Right?

Monday, April 19th, 2010
After every big MMA event, a flood of negative headlines cover MMA websites like wallpaper. Sadly, the negativity is usually from the fans, rather than the outside observer that this sport so tirelessly caters to. So often, being a fan of MMA seems to come with a license to deem what is and isn't "bad for the sport." So often, the casual observer holds more importance than the actual passionate enthusiasts of this game. Why do we feel so pressed to impress? We have what we want, don't we? We get to see a steady flow of interesting and competitive matchups month-in and month-out. The best fight the best on a regular basis. Why should we ...
