April 23 might be a date remembered by literature nerds everywhere as the day William Shakespeare was (probably) born, and also as the day he died, but April 22? At least in Sacaramento, Calif. that will henceforth be known as Urijah Faber Day, thanks to a proclamation made Thursday by Sacramento mayor and former NBA star Kevin Johnson.

WEC 48: Anthony Pettis Beats Alex Karalexis

Anthony Pettis showed off a great combination of stand-up striking and submission skills in a lightweight bout Saturday night at WEC 48, getting Alex Karalexis to tap out in the second round of their fight in Sacramento.
Pettis landed a kick to the face in the early going and landed several kicks to the legs as the first round wore on, employing his stand-up strategy perfectly as Karalexis had little answer. In the closing seconds of the first round Karalexis took Pettis down, but it was definitely Pettis's round.
