Scott Coker: Nothing Decided on Fedor Emelianenko’s Future, Next CBS Show
Monday, August 9th, 2010
Fedor Emelianenko and a broadcast deal with the CBS network are two of the most important assets Strikeforce can boast, but right now, they are in holding patterns as respective talks and deliberations continue on both fronts.
Of the two, it appears that a decision on Emelianenko's future is more likely to come first.
During a Monday conference call, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker mentioned that the promotion has engaged in recent, productive talks with the Russian fighter's representatives.
"We have ongoing dialogue even as recent as last weekend, and it's an ongoing process," he said. "I feel we'll come to when ...
Fedor Emelianenko Sits Idle While M-1 Global Fights Strikeforce Deal
Friday, April 23rd, 2010
According to a recent interview by Sherdog.com editor Loretta Hunt, who spoke with M-1 Global President Vadim Finkelchstein on Tuesday about the stalled contract negotiations between his company and the Strikeforce promotion, the ball is now in Strikeforce's court.
Finkelchstein and M-1 Global are seeking a revised co-promotional agreement to hold additional future events in the US, which would then preclude the return of the M-1 "poster boy" Fedor Emelianenko, who is fast becoming a depreciating product.
Emelianenko has only fought five times since 2006—and, if I might add, against extremely poor competition.
No longer relevant names, such as exiled UFC champions Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski ...
Alistair Overeem’s Chance to Face Fedor Emelianenko Ruined by Steroid Abuse
Wednesday, April 21st, 2010
It has become apparent to all that Overeem will never be given the chance to face Fedor Emelianenko. The juiced-up steroid junkie will instead face Brett "Grimm" Rogers sometime in May 2010.
It is not simply Overeem's extreme usage of growth hormones and steroids that is preventing a battle with Fedor. Simply stated, Fedor's management does not consider him a "worthy" opponent.
In fact, Fedor's manager had this to say: "I personally think that Alistair Overeem did not reach the desired level to challenge Fedor. He beat a lot of no-name opponents in mixed martial arts. Overeem defeated Paul Buentello and then disappeared from the United States for more than two years, which is simply ridiculous."
"He has nothing ...
Is Fedor’s Ranking At Stake?

[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="340" caption="Jon Kopaloff/Getty Images"][/caption]
It wasn't long ago that the UFC had a 45-year-old heavyweight champion, and Tim Sylvia, Fabricio Werdum, Gabriel Gonzaga and an aged Antonio Nogueira were some of the biggest contenders for that belt. Since then, Couture lost the championship via 2nd round TKO to Brock Lesnar, Fabricio Werdum was KO'd in the ...
FEDOR NEGOTIATIONS ONGOING, PENCILED FOR JUNE
Friday, April 9th, 2010
The deal to bring Fedor Emelianenko back to Strikeforce isn’t a done deal yet, but the promotion is hopeful he'll be on board for a June fight against Fabricio Werdum.
Just last month the word was that Fedor was confirmed for the June card, and while Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker says they are hopeful to have him on the show in San Jose, Calif., it's an ongoing situation.
"We have a date in June on hold for him, and we're hoping we work things out where he can come fight that fight," said Coker when appearing on MMAWeekly Radio on Wednesday night.
"I wish I could give you more details, but I really can't talk about the minutia ...
