Does It Matter if the UFC Lies to the Media, Fans?

    That depends on your priorities. Lying to the press is never a good idea. In the information age, falsehoods can come back to haunt you and severely undermine your credibility. Tell a lie before all of the facts are out and an enterprising reporter can make you pay. But that's actually not what happened with the UFC and the main event for UFC 115. The UFC was much more brazen. Rather than lie and work to cover up details they didn't want disseminated, the UFC deliberately went on the record in interviews in print, radio and online saying words and spreading messages they knew to be false. EliteXC set for revival?

Is EliteXC on the verge of coming back from the dead? A press release circulated earlier today indicated that it might be. Stratus Media Group, which describes itself as “a live entertainment company” announced today that it has assumed control over the board of directors and the management of ProElite, the parent company of EliteXC. EliteXC was founded in 2006 but went under in October 2008, a combination of debts and adverse publicity sounding the death knell. The organisation sold off many of its assets, including fighters, and was stated to be defunct. Shane McMahon meets with Zuffa officials in Las Vegas

It has been confirmed today that WWE Executive Vice President of Global Media, Shane McMahon met with a number of high ranking officials over at Zuffa’s headquarters a week ago, possibly to discuss him moving into the world of MMA. When the Wrestling Observer questioned UFC President, Dana White about the meeting he declined to comment. Shane, who will be leaving his post in the WWE as of January 1st, is known to be interested in getting involved with the mixed martial arts world and with Dana last month admitting they would consider selling 10% of the promotion off to the right investor it could mean that we see a McMahon step into the octagon sometime soon. by Michael Pepper of MMABay.co.uk (...
