So here it is — the moment that might have sunk Strikeforce's chances at getting on network television ever again. (As if the monotonous fights didn't do enough damage to their stock.) When the video cuts away at the 0:15 mark, you miss two things: Jake Shields shoving Jason Miller for getting too close, and Gilbert Melendez shoving Miller immediately afterwards when it looks like Mayhem might retaliate. And then it's time for the shit to have its blind date with the fan. At this point, Scott Coker's only hope is that the post-event brawl creates enough heat that CBS wants to give them another chance, selling Strikeforce ...

Strikeforce announced the undercard line-up of its April 17 “Nashville” event on Monday, which will include a former local college football standout and the son of a UFC 6 veteran.
Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker confirmed to Sherdog.com that Bobby Lashley will not appear for the event, which will emanate from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., as was previously expected. Coker did not give a reason for the former WWE champion’s exclusion. Lashley, who’s 5-0 in MMA, also splits his time as a TNA pro wrestler.

The bad news is Thiago Alves wasn't able to fight Jon Fitch at UFC 111, but the much better news is that the Brazilian will be able to return to action as soon as May, after having a minor surgery that will keep him away for only a few weeks.
Alves spoke to the media on Friday evening in New York City to update everyone on what was a fairly vague, yet scary situation after he was not approved to fight following a CAT scan that revealed an issue with the fighter's brain that could not be solved by fight time.
Fitch remained on the UFC 111 card ...
Jon Fitch WILL Fight on UFC 111 Card Against Ben Saunders
Thursday, March 25th, 2010
Just hours after news broke that Thiago Alves had to pull out of his UFC 111 main card fight with Jon Fitch due to a failed CT scan, multiple sources are now reporting that Fitch will instead fight Ben Saunders on the main card. Saunders already had a main card fight against Jake Ellenberger, but he was apparently eager to fight Fitch. Ellenberger will reportedly be paid his show-money plus a win bonus and will simply be removed from the card.
MMA Junkie had the initial report:
Multiple sources today confirmed with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) the change to Saturday's card, which takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
A source told MMAjunkie.com said Saunders ...
Is UFC ‘Messing With’ Strikeforce?
Thursday, March 18th, 2010
I contacted a source involved in the April 17 Strikeforce card on CBS to get his take on the recent rumors that have swirled in the mixed martial arts world about the UFC possibly putting on its own card on April 17 to counter the Strikeforce card, headlined by Dan Henderson vs. Jake Shields.
The source's reply: "I think the UFC is messing with us."
What he meant is not that the UFC is messing with Strikeforce by actually putting on an April 17 card. What he meant is that the UFC is messing with Strikeforce by going through the motions of preparing to put on an April 17 card, thus making Strikeforce and CBS jittery ...
