Strikeforce formally announced on Saturday that Bobby Lashley, the former pro wrestling star who's trying to make it in mixed martial arts, will return to the cage on June 16 to fight Ron Sparks, giving Lashley an opponent who represents a tiny step forward toward actually getting challenged in MMA.

Eliot Marshall and Shannon Gugerty Released By The UFC

UFC competitors Eliot Marshall and Shannon Gugerty – who both lost their respective matches Sunday night during the organization’s debut on Versus – have been released from the UFC. MMA Madness was able to confirm the news with sources close to the fighters this afternoon.
Marshall (seen here) lost a lackluster split decision to Vladimir Matyushenko while Gugerty was submitted with a arm-triangle choke in the second round courtesy of Clay Guida.
