Jumping The Gun: Strikeforce Gets Worse By The Day
Saturday, June 19th, 2010
Yesterday, I wrote an article because I felt that Strikeforce was lacking as an MMA promotion. (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/407851-strikeforce-or-how-to-a-promotion-lacks-common-sense) Overall, I just think Strikeforce has made a series of really bad decisions that have been going against their ability to compete with the UFC.
Today, there are multiple reports of even more failings on behalf of Strikeforce.
First up is Mauro Ranallo, Frank Shamrock, Gilbert Melendez and Nick Diaz electing attend the opening of a medical marijuana center in San Jose, California. That, in and of itself, is okay but at the same time is it okay for two champions to be supporting such a hot button issue? Especially when both of ...

The UFC championship fight between mega-heavyweights Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin has passed a key hurdle as both men have signed bout agreements to compete at UFC 116 on July 3 as expected.
Multiple sources have confirmed that both competitors agreed to the fight, which has been targeted by the UFC since Lesnar's health problems cleared up and Carwin won his March UFC 111 bout against Frank Mir in short order. The fight should be officially announced sometime within the next two ...

Brock Lesnar just so happens to be one of those types of athletes that no matter what he says or what he does, the fans (for one reason or another) just can't seem to get enough of him (just ask Frank Mir).
Not that it’s all positive, of course.
For as many fans that seem to love Brock Lesnar (oh yes fight fans...they definitely exist), just as many, if not more, seem to really despise who he is as a person, and what they perceive he represents.
Oh well...love him or hate him, the reality is that ...
CRIS CYBORG AND CUNG LE RETURN IN JUNE
Thursday, April 8th, 2010
As Strikeforce draws ever nearer to it’s April 17 date in Nashville, the promotion is already starting to forge ahead with plans for another major show in June that will feature a current champion and a former champion on the same card.
Another event, on May 15, has already been scheduled and announced for St. Louis. While the June card has not officially been released, it's believed Strikeforce will put a show on late in the month at the HP Pavilion in its hometown of San Jose, Calif.
Two top fighters who will be featured on the June card are former middleweight champion Cung Le and current women's 145-pound champion Cris "Cyborg" Santos.
Coming off a win over ...
CAIN VELASQUEZ WAITING IN THE WINGS FOR A SHOT
Tuesday, March 30th, 2010
Brock Lesnar will look to return to action in July against new interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin. Waiting in the shadows for the winner of that fight will be Cain Velasquez, who will likely sit and wait for his title shot until after the unification bout this summer.
UFC president Dana White commented on the status of the next two contenders in the heavyweight division on Saturday night after UFC 111 ended in Newark, N.J.
To hear White tell it, Velasquez has already done enough to fight for the title and now it's just a matter of waiting for one champion to stand tall. Then he'll get his shot.
"Cain's waiting ...
