Why Fedor Emelianenko Must Respond To Alistair Overeem’s Claims
Monday, May 24th, 2010
The biggest stalemate in MMA history will come to a head if Fedor Emelianenko walks away victorious at “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum.” At that point, fans are expecting Fedor to challenge heavyweight champ Alistair Overeem for his title in the most anticipated heavyweight scrap of all time.
“Alistair has told me many times he would love to fight Fedor. He has called Fedor out in ...
FOR ALISTAIR OVEREEM IT’S FEDOR OR BUST!
Monday, May 17th, 2010
I want to fight Fedor.
Give me a fight with Fedor.
Fedor, fight me.
There are many variations on the theme, but the refrain is the same... Alistair Overeem wants to fight Fedor Emelianenko.
With the Strikeforce heavyweight champion’s first round demolition of Brett Rogers on Saturday night, it would seem the fight could now happen. Not so fast.
Remember, Fedor has another fight on his hands first. He is scheduled to face Fabricio Werdum in a Strikeforce and M-1 Global co-promotion on June 26 in San Jose, Calif.
If he wins there then let’s talk.
“I know Alistair would love to fight Fedor, and that's a conversation that will happen after June 26,” said Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker on Saturday ...
Alistair Overeem’s Chance to Face Fedor Emelianenko Ruined by Steroid Abuse
Wednesday, April 21st, 2010
It has become apparent to all that Overeem will never be given the chance to face Fedor Emelianenko. The juiced-up steroid junkie will instead face Brett "Grimm" Rogers sometime in May 2010.
It is not simply Overeem's extreme usage of growth hormones and steroids that is preventing a battle with Fedor. Simply stated, Fedor's management does not consider him a "worthy" opponent.
In fact, Fedor's manager had this to say: "I personally think that Alistair Overeem did not reach the desired level to challenge Fedor. He beat a lot of no-name opponents in mixed martial arts. Overeem defeated Paul Buentello and then disappeared from the United States for more than two years, which is simply ridiculous."
"He has nothing ...
FEDOR NEGOTIATIONS ONGOING, PENCILED FOR JUNE
Friday, April 9th, 2010
The deal to bring Fedor Emelianenko back to Strikeforce isn’t a done deal yet, but the promotion is hopeful he'll be on board for a June fight against Fabricio Werdum.
Just last month the word was that Fedor was confirmed for the June card, and while Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker says they are hopeful to have him on the show in San Jose, Calif., it's an ongoing situation.
"We have a date in June on hold for him, and we're hoping we work things out where he can come fight that fight," said Coker when appearing on MMAWeekly Radio on Wednesday night.
"I wish I could give you more details, but I really can't talk about the minutia ...
Bobby Lashley ‘Fully Prepared’ to Return, but Doesn’t Have a Fight
Tuesday, April 6th, 2010
Bobby Lashley says all the right things about wanting to make a successful transition from professional wrestling to mixed martial arts, and about taking his training seriously in an effort to become a star in the cage just like he was in the wrestling ring.
But for fans who have been wondering where Lashley's career is heading, Lashley has posted a message on his Facebook page that suggests he's wondering, too.
"Sorry for the delay in responding to all of you who are eager to see me fight again," Lashley wrote on Facebook. "I will not be on the Strikeforce card in ...
