Van Damme vs. Thailand’s Olympic gold medal winner Somluck Kamsing to fight in October 2010 in Las Vegas
Tuesday, January 26th, 2010
The match will use the muaythai format, although elbows will be disallowed at the request of Van Damme who is an actor and doesn’t want his face cut up or disfigured. Somluck will be paid just over $100,000 which does not include the income from broadcasting.
"I said I wasn’t lying," said Somluck. "I thought he was of much larger stature. But when we were standing next to each other, he wasn’t any bigger than me. So, I’m confident now. I’m better in muaythai techniques and I will have fun kicking the star. However, I won’t be careless and will keep training myself."
Somluck is also hoping to be able to fight other international martial arts stars.

Teammate vs. Teammate Bouts Remain Unattractive to AKA’s fighters
Tuesday, January 26th, 2010
The UFC's welterweight division has had its ups and downs over the course of the last few years. At one point, many fans, including myself, had a very pessimistic outlook on the division's future as current champion Georges St. Pierre had taken out Jon Fitch, Thiago Alves, and B.J. Penn in title defenses. He'll fight in his fourth straight defense on March 27th against Dan Hardy in a battle that many fans see as another destructive win for the champion.
Unfortunately for fans, there aren't too many options left for Georges St. Pierre. Jon Fitch will likely be the next title contender if he can defeat Thiago Alves at UFC 111, but a case could be made for Josh Koscheck if ...
Forrest Griffin vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in the works for UFC 113
Tuesday, January 26th, 2010
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin will try to derail the title aspirations of Antonio Rogerio Nogueria if and when the two meet at the upcoming UFC 113 event from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on May 1, according to Tatame.com.
From Lil' Nog:
"It’s almost set, we’re negotiating, but it’s not 100% yet. It’s not confirmed by the UFC yet."
Griffin rebounded from an embarrassing knockout loss at the hands of Anderson Silva to avenge a 2006 defeat to Tito Ortiz, outpointing "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" en route to a split decision victory in the main event of UFC 106 last November.
The win snapped a two-fight ...
Brock is Back!
Wednesday, January 20th, 2010
“Brock is back!”
That was the triumphant Twitter message that UFC president Dana White sent out this morning as he and the heavyweight champion appeared on ESPN SportsCenter to discuss the recently illness woes that have kept Lesnar from the Octagon and even threatened his career.
Lesnar will be back in action this summer and defending his belt against the winner of a fight between Frank Mir and Shane Carwin. Should injuries prevent the winner of that match stepping up to the plate, the winner of Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Cain Velasquez will get the shot.
A giant of a man, Lesnar looked somewhat smaller than usual on television today and it was revealed that he had lost 40 pounds during ...
Rampage-Rashad off UFC 113, on to UFC 114?
Tuesday, January 19th, 2010
Has the fight between Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Rashad Evans been moved off the UFC 113 card? One industry source tells Fighters Only that it has, and is likely to be used to headline a separate event to take place around the same time.
And top ten Josh Koscheck said yesterday that his fight with Paul ’Semtex’ Daley is to be the co-main event at UFC 113, which will be headlined by a second title fight between 205lb champion Lyoto Machida and Mauricio ’Shogun’ Rua.
Rampage-Rashad was thought to be the co-main event for UFC 113 but unless Koscheck is misinformed, that is no longer the case. And as the fight between the two TUF10 captains has the potential ...
