Speaking to Tatame Magazine, Silva said:
“Lyoto fought well, he was very well trained. It was a hard fight, very equilibrated. Shogun fought on his rhythm very well, he was very well prepared, he’s very experient, but Lyoto’s technique was superior and he won, undoubtedly.”
“Both fought well, they made a very good fight, but Lyoto won it. Now we’ll go back home and see was he did wrong to the next fight. This fight is past, it doesn’t matter anymore, he’s the champion, a great person, a great athlete.”
“I congratulate Shogun, this fight was a fight that every MMA fans liked to watch. In my opinion, Lyoto won every rounds. Shogun had a good strategy attacking the legs, but it wasn’t enough. It’s not the trainers that must decide but the judges… Lyoto won well, now is to be back to the trains as soon as possible.”
Despite UFC President, Dana White indicating that he would like to see the rematch between the pair go down on January 2nd at UFC 108 the 45 day medical suspension imposed on champion Machida may put a spanner in the works with those plans.
